We all applied to be a part of it. I applied because I really enjoy teaching people about science and probably wan’t to do it as a job in the future. I think this competition has been a really good way to practice explaining things, and I’ve really enjoyed all the interesting and unexpected questions I’ve been asked! I’ve learnt lots of things I never knew too, trying to answer the questions!

We had to apply and some people that applied didn’t make it in! We are in the Diamond Zone as we all work using the Diamond Light Source near Oxford. It has been really great trying to answer all of the challenging questions and speak to young, curious students that are passionate about science. I sure hope I don’t get voted out early (hint, hint)!

The others have answered this already but we all applied because we have an interest in communicating science. Its been a really fun way of communicating with lots of students, having to think about the answers to some questions I’d never really thought about and hopefully having inspired some of you to continue studying science and convinced you that scientists are just normal people really!
