I think that we need more than one solution to reducing global warming and a lot of the damage may have already been done. But we are trying to make materials which can trap carbon dioxide inside them by having small windows in the materials which we can open and shut using temperature, pressure and light. So maybe one day we might have made something that helps. We need to work on making new renewable sources of energy too that reduce the amount of carbon dioxide that we are putting into the atmosphere.

I don’t work on global warming so I’d be pleasantly surprised if it did 😛

If my teams work on studying the mass transfer of elements in deep time between fossils and their environment is successful…it will aid in our search for safe places to store radwaste…so, with a possible solution to nuclear waste storage, this source of power may become more viable and reduce green house emissions and climate change through the expansion of nuclear power.

That’s the aim of my project so I really hope it does! Realistically I don’t think the material I make will be the thing that saves the world. Science is all about building on what other people have done and bringing lots of ideas together so hopefully in the future somebody will use the things I’ve discovered to make the record breaking material that can be used to reduce global warming!
