Computers are already a key part of the developments of medicines. We use them to help us to design new medicines and also to help us understand how processes take place in our bodies. Without computers, everything would be a lot slower! It is inevitable that as computers improve, combined with an improvement in the understanding of how we can use them, we will be able to answer more and more complex questions with increased accuracy.

Computer processing power means we can do experiments now that would have been unthinkable, even 20 years ago. We use computers pretty much everyday for processing data and driving the drug discovery process. We can also use computers to simulate protein structures and how they interact with potential drugs.
