Yes I believe in Charles Darwin’s evolution theory. Its been around a long time now and seems to make sense of the world. I still find it amazing how some creatures have barely changed in thousands of years and others are evolving all the time! I wonder how we’re going to evolve to reflect the increased use of things like mobile phones and computers?

Darwin and Wallace made some fantastic observations that they explained by the idea of the evolution of species. This is how science works. Data are accumulated, and then their significance and meaning is used to test ideas. It isn’t really a question of whether we believe one theory or another, it is a question of whether one or other theory explains the data adequately. In this case, evolution provides a very good explanation of the observations and allows us to understand them.

I do believe in Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution. The reason I do is that it is an excellent example of the application of the scientific method. The scientific method involves coming up with an idea that can be tested experimentally and evidence can be found to support (or disprove) the idea. Darwin collected an amazing amount of evidence to support his idea and there is no competing theory that has such an amount of evidence to support it.

I understand and appreciate the beauty and clear evidence that supports the Darwinian Theory of Evolution through natural selection. The evidence of past life on Earth, through fossils, and the molecular evidence that binds all life in the modern realm, is elegantly simple and transparently clear.

It is tough to discuss a belief-based system that cannot be tested or validated, so cannot be compared to a scientific theory.

I believe in Darwin’s theory of evolution too – it makes perfect sense to me that you only get animals in some parts of the world because they’ve got the best characteristics to survive there. Everything adapts to change all of the time – think of how many things have changed in your grandparent’s lifetime and how they’ve changed to be able to deal with them and what things will be like in the future for you.
