I think there is a lot of scientific evidence that suggests that the creation story is not correct. The world is certainly older than the bible would suggest and it would seem that evolution better explains the way that species have evolved over a long time. I think the creation story was written at a time when there was much less knowledge and it helped to explain some of the unanswered questions at the time – I think human’s naturally want to ask how did we get here. Now we have a better understanding and so have a more likely explanation.

The question about God is much harder and that is very much a personal thing. What I will say is that science is very good at explaining the “how” question but we need to observe something before we can explain it. It is hard, even as scientists, for us to explain why things happen and for some people this is where the idea of God fits in.

I am an atheist which means I don’t believe there is any god and therefore I don’t believe in creationism either.

There is no scientific evidence that supports creationism, and even evidence against it (like dinosaur fossils). As a scientist it is important to have evidence to support our theories or ideas. There is loads of great evidence that supports Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution so I think this is a much more plausible explanation for the origin of all the different species on Earth.

No. When I was younger I used to be religious but as I looked at the scientific facts I changed my mind – there’s lots of proof, such as carbon dating and fossils that show the world was created long before the bible says it was.
I see the benefits of using religion to explain things that we don’t still understand – for example I’m happy to say that there was a god/force that made the big bang happen because we don’t understand it yet. I think it’s important to have an open mind and to listen to other people’s views. If anybody comes up with a theory against evolution and can have convincing arguments for it, I might believe in that instead!

I do not believe in God. This is a human construct that is based upon a belief-based system. Science uses evidence to test hypotheses, that when validated become beautiful theory. Darwinian Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection has been tested, validated and was not found wanting. The creation story is a work of fiction, that has no way to test, support or validate.
