      The salary for a scientist in a university varies a lot depending on position and experience. If you have a PhD then you typically start anywhere between £28,000-£32,000 a year but if you work your way to the very top Professorships then this can be as much as £100,000 a year. In industry these wages tend to be slightly higher. The average salary for a scientist in the UK is around £36,000 a year.

      While science isn’t the highest paying career choice, it is very highly rewarding and interesting.
