• Question: Is the universe finite or infinite?

      I’m no expert in astronomy and the universe but from what I understand the universe is constantly expanding (according to Huble’s law) and so that would make it pretty infinite! The scientists in the Astronomy Zone might be able to give you a more detailed answer though 🙂

      Once you have stretched that Universe-size balloon too far…maybe collapse will occur one-day with another Big-Bang event in a few billion years….so I go for finite, with the caveat of time playing an important role.

      Good question! And one that scientists are unable to agree on! I think that we probably don’t yet know the correct answer to this and the theories will change as we learn more about the universe.

      I remember learning that the universe was like blowing up a balloon – it’s constantly expanding. So I’m going for infinite, but there are lots of scientists who think the opposite. Maybe you, or somebody in your year, will be the person who proves one of the theories right!
