Very important for lots of sports men and women who get injured and would be in pain for life without them. It’s a really historic job – they’ve been around since Roman times when they used to help gladiators! If it’s something you’re interested in doing, go for it! (But if you go to the World Cup, be careful where you jump when celebrating a goal….)

The people who train to become sports physiotherapists are really skilled at their jobs and help sports men and women keep fit and get back to full health faster. They have to know a lot of biology!

I think it is great that more professional athletes are looking at the science involved in how well they perform. Anything that can help them give that extra percent is really valuable. Sports science, including physiotherapy, is quite an exciting and upcoming are of research.

Some members of my team study animal biomechanics (including humans). This is a splendidly cool area of science that feeds into medicine and sports physiotherapy. If you have an interest in sports physio…go for it! A great career awaits you!
