Wikipedia says: An estimated 24,000 people are killed by lightning strikes around the world each year and about 240,000 are injured.

So I think that works out as a 91% chance of surviving based on past reports!

National Geographic gave similar numbers to Jenny. It said about 10% of people hit by lightning die but 70% suffer serious long-term effects. In the United States the odds of being struck by lightning at some point in your life are apparently 1 in 3000.
