Birds of prey are birds that eat other animals, such as rodents and smaller birds. These birds evolved to have very good eye sight, powerful beaks and talons. These characteristics mean they are very good at hunting compared to smaller birds which live of plants and seeds etc.

I depends on how birds evolve and what they like to eat. If all birds wanted to eat small rodents or other birds, then there wouldn’t be enough food to go around. So evolution ensured that some birds were birds of prey but other birds prefer to eat things like seeds.

Birds of prey are a group of related species that became adapted for a predatory lifestyle. There dinosaurian ancestors also had similar diversity, with predatory (Theropod) and planet-eating species. Each group evolved to exploit its own distinct ecological niche.
