• Question: Why does time exist?

      Why is possibly the difficult part, when and how is more explainable. Sometimes ‘why’ is not the best starting point.

      Why does matter exist? Everything started from the big bang, including time!

      Because without it Dr Who would be rather boring. Like The Doctor says: “People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but *actually* from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint – it’s more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly… time-y wimey… stuff.”

      In short, I don’t know.

      I don’t know, much like most of the reasons behind our existence! Science is very good at explaining how things that we observe happen, but it is very hard to answer the why question.

      this is a great question, and one that I think many people would struggle to answer (including me). But the interesting thing about time is that it only goes in one direction, unlike the other familiar dimensions of the universe.
