• Question: why isn't the world flat?

      Because everything in the universe has gravity (even you) so when planets formed, all the atoms got pulled together to one point so a sphere formed (this is the shape where every point on the surface is the same distance from the centre)

      The earth isn’t a perfect sphere either – it flattens at the poles and bulges at the equator!

      In Discworld (a series of novels by Terry Pratchett) the world is flat. It is a big disc balancing on the back of 4 elephants which are in turn standing on the back of a giant turtle which is swimming through space.

      The laws of physics dictate something other….only fiction or ignorance can provide us with a flat world.
