I choose antibiotics – but I am bias as it is what I work on! It is a very serious problem though as bacteria are becoming more resistant to the antibiotics we have. We need new ones ASAP so we can continue treating bacterial infections, otherwise things like surgery could become quite dangerous.

Have you voted for the longditude prize? I think I went for Dementia because it’s the one that effects me and my family the most at the moment, so it was a bit of a selfish vote. They’re all really important projects so I’ll be happy if any of them win!

I choose water. This is a global problem that will become larger as climate change alters weather patterns and the availability of water. Some argue that water will become as valuable a commodity as oil in the future. We as a species needs to learn how to manage such critical resources.
